Message From The Pastor in Regards to Renovation and Renewal of Saint Peter Parish
Dear Friends in Christ,
As we look toward the future of Saint Peter Parish, I would like to share with you an important step
in the life of our Parish, the renovation and renewal of our church for next summer 2027.
Saint Peter Church is much more than a building. That is correct because It is our spiritual home. For genertions,
people have come through these doors to celebrate Baptisms, First Communions, Confirmtions, weddings, funerals,
and countless Sunday Masses. Here we have prayed, celebrated, mourned, given thanks, and encountered Jesus
Christ.
Our Church has served us faithfully, but after many years, it is time to care for it in a significant way. It is time to
repaint it, do some work on the floor, brighten it more, and make others changes inside including the crucifix. All
changes preserving the style and sacredness of the place. This work is part of the second part of the renovation.
The full renovation will be done in four stages. The renovation will allow us to address important needs of the
building while also helping us create a Church that is more welcoming, safe, beautiful, and worthy of the worship that
takes place inside every time. This is an opportunity not simply to repair and renovate a building, but to renew our
spiritual home and prepare it for the generations who will come after us.
We know that a project of this importance requires careful planning, responsible stewardship, and the generosity of
all of you as parish community. We are taking the time to study the needs of the building, evaluate the costs, consider
the best approach for our Parish.
I also want this to be a process in which our parishioners are informed and have an opportunity to listen, ask
questions, and share their thoughts. A good opportunity will be the Parish Town Hall meeting on October 25th, at
12.30 PM in the Parish Center. We will also continue to provide opportunities for conversation and updates as the
project develops. At the heart of this renovation is a simple question: What kind of Parish and church do we want to
leave for the next generation?
We have received Saint Peter Parish as a gift from those who came before us. Now it is our responsibility to care for
that gift and, when necessary, to renew it so that it can continue to serve the people of Cambridge and our
surrounding community. This will not be accomplished by one person or one group. It will require the prayers,
participation, and generosity of our entire parish family. Every contribution—large or small for this project is
meaningful when it is offered with love for our Parish and its future. We are already receiving donations and
contributions from parishioners, and we are planning a campaign for this in January 2027 for the second stage.
I am grateful for the many people who have already given their time, donations, and expertise to this process, and I
am grateful to all of you for the love and support you continue to show Saint Peter Parish. Let us approach this
renovation not simply as a building project, but as an expression of our faith, our gratitude, and our hope for the
future.
May God bless Saint Peter Parish, and may our Parish continue to be a place where every person who enters these
doors encounters the welcome and love of Christ.
With gratitude, Fr. Americo Santos
