Update on Summer Volunteers at the Harvard Square Churches Meal Program

Harvard Square Churches Meal Program Needs Volunteers. St Peter Parish has been an important contributor to the Meal Program for many years. During the college summer break we depend on St. Peter Parishioners for volunteers. HSCMP invites volunteers to join our team this summer. All ages are welcome. Elementary school-aged children need to be accompanied by an adult. High school students can come on their own. This is a great family activity and a chance to give back to our community. The meal is served every Thursday at Christ Church, 0 Garden Street, from 5 until 6:30 PM. Volunteers are encouraged to arrive by 4:30 PM so they can be oriented, meet other volunteers, and be assigned a task. Tasks can include plating and serving the food or helping at one of the Marketplaces. To keep things organized it is helpful to know ahead of time who will be coming to serve so we can plan accordingly. Please contact Laurie Howell, our volunteer coordinator, at 617-733-5099 or via our email address at hscmpinc@gmail.org to let us know which Thursday (s) you would like to join. Coming once or twice will give you a hands-on sense of the program. If you are able to come more frequently you will develop connections with guests and workers. This is a great way to practice our shared Catholic values while learning and having fun.
